Women's Centers
Hope House Maternity Home
I started working in a nursing home as kitchen help while in high school. I believe this was the start to my medical career. I have been in the medical field 24 yrs and have been performing ultrasound exams for 13 of those yrs. At the time of my training it seemed more a need to fill a void for the facility at which I worked, but as time passed and I became more experienced it then became more of a “calling” for me.
I became acquainted with LHWC through church. I donated to the cause and would read the newsletter as it came, never thinking I had more to offer. One of the newsletters arrived and there was a write up on the “New” ultrasound program starting up at their Show Low center, and hoped to be able to expand it to the other two centers, they were looking for volunteers. After I had read the article something inside of me stirred. Almost without thinking or discussing it with my family I picked up the phone and starting inquiring about how to help. This is not something I would generally do without careful consideration and planning. I know that the Lord put this in my life not for me, but for those who would need it. I started as a volunteer sonographer and am now the current director of the ultrasound program. I have one seasonal volunteer and one that has just returned to the area willing to start. I will continue to be the best instrument I can to those who would come seeking knowledge and direction, by the One who directs me—our loving God.
